Rodney District Council is to undertake further consultation early next year on plans to develop two new parks in Silverdale North, located south of the Orewa estuary.
Draft Reserve Management Plans have been prepared for both parks – Metro Park West and Metro Park East, and will be released for public consultation early in 2009.
The draft plan for Metro Park East identifies a range of proposed facilities including sports fields, clubrooms, a new indoor recreation centre, playgrounds, walkways, car park areas,and hard courts as well as a skatepark and BMX track.
Metro Park West has been developed primarily for passive recreation and is identified as a suitable venue for outdoor events such as concerts or festivals, given its natural amphitheatre shape.
The draft Reserve Management Plans for both parks will be publicly available from the Council’s website in January 2009.
