Destination Orewa Beach (DOB) is currently undertaking consultation with businesses and commercial land owners located in:
Red Beach,
Hilltop,
some parts of Silverdale,
Waiwera and
Orewa moteliers
about whether they wish to receive DOB services.
DOB orginally invited businesses from throughout the Hibiscus Coast to vote on whether they wished to receive DOB services. Following initial consultation, DOB have revised their proposal and will now be limiting their consultation to the specific parts of the Hibiscus Coast listed above.
If DOB was to provide services to additional businesses , the Council would collect a membership levy from businesses as part of their rates to pay for the operating costs of the services provided. The levy would be based on the type of property and value of the land. More information about how the levy is calculated is available online at http://www.orewabeach.co.nz/boundarypoll/membershipcosts.htm.
Businesses who become members of Destination Orewa Beach receive a number of services such as listing on the organisation’s website, business seminars and marketing promotion.
Public Meeting
Please note that the public meeting scheduled for Friday 28th August (6pm) – Whangaparaoa College, Delshaw Ave, Stanmore Bay by Destination Orewa Beach to discuss the consultation on extending their boundaries has now been cancelled. This is because the boundary extension proposal has now been revised to be specific to a much smaller area than originally proposed.
Businesses who are inside the new proposed DOB boundary area will receive a letter with information on the consultation.
How to Have Your Say
Voting papers will be mailed out in September to businesses in Red Beach, Hilltop, the new Silverdale knowledge zone, Orewa motels and Waiwera to enable them to vote on the boundary extension poll.
Destination Orewa Beach is now collating a register of businesses and commercial land owners in the above areas so that they have a complete list of everyone who is entitled to vote.
You will be able to check whether you have been included on the register by contacting Leanne at Destination Orewa Beach on 09 426 2638.
