Dog Control Fees - 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010

The following Dog Control fees have been set by Council pursuant
to the Dog Control Act 1996 Section 37:

• For all dogs 3 months and over at 1 July 2009:

Fees inclusive of GST

Standard dog control fee $119

• Less $20 per dog discount if paid by 1 September $99
• Less a further $30 discount per dog if the dog owner qualifies
  as a Selected Dog Owner not later than 1 May in the previous
  dog registration year and pays by 1 September $69

Working Dog Fee $95

• Less $20 per working dog (for up to two working dogs) if paid
  by 1 September. $75
• Less a further $6 per working dog (for up to two working dogs)
  if Dog Owner has qualified as a Selected Dog Owner and if
  paid by 1 September $69
• Third and subsequent working dogs if paid by 1 September $30
• The fee after 1 September is $95
• The Council offers a reduced registration fee of $50 to any person who adopts a dog from the SPCA Animal shelter and prior to the release of the dog from the SPCA shelter, registers the dog with the Rodney District Council.

This reduced registration fee applies only to the first year of registration.

• For dogs reaching 3 months of age after 1 July the Dog Owner will pay on a prorata basis, from and including the month in which the dog reached three months.
• A Dog Owner obtaining a dog which was due for registration on 1 July but which is obtained after that date will NOT be eligible for a pro rata fee unless the dog is newly imported into New Zealand.
• Dog owners must provide ALL necessary information, sign an Application form and pay the appropriate fee.

NOTE – Section 34 Dog Control Act

Dog Owners are required to provide their date of birth when registering a dog, as well as all other relevant details, full name and postal address, address where the dog is kept, name of the dog, breed , age, sex and whether neutered.

Applications without ALL required information will not be accepted for registration.  Applications will be returned with any payment to the applicant to complete the required information and re-lodge with the correct payment.
