Guide to Safe Partying Released

A new guide has been released by Rodney District Council with information about how young people can enjoy going out and planning parties, while avoiding problems with alcohol and the law.

‘Your Guide to Trouble Free Partying’ is now available online and at Council offices and libraries throughout the District. It is also available from Youth Centres and the Rodney Police.

The Guide has information on where liquor bans operate in Rodney District, how to host a party, how alcohol affects the body and what the consequences of consuming too much alcohol can be.

"We know young people want to enjoy themselves this summer. The guide has lots of ideas about to how to host a party responsibly, things to think about when going out and how to stay out of trouble," says Councillor Michael Goudie.

"The Guide encourages young people to think about the consequences of their actions, both for themselves and for others," he says.

"We have 19 liquor ban areas in the Rodney District, which are shown in the guide. Local residents have asked us to make these areas alcohol free so that they are safe for everyone, and we want people to respect that."
