On Guy Fawkes night (November 5 2009) RDC will allow bonfires in a rural areas after dark. Bonfires are prohibited within urban areas in Rodney and there are no exceptions to this rule.
The following guidelines must be followed:
1) Bonfires must be supervised the entire time
2) Bonfires must be fully extinguished prior to being left at the end of the night
3) All close neighbours are to be informed
4) The local fire station must be informed
5) No bonfire is to cause a smoke nuisance to any other neighbour or the
Fireworks and bonfires should also not be lit within 5 metres of any combustible material.
We ask that people give consideration to their neighbours and animals this Guy Fawkes.
Pet owners are reminded to ensure their animals are safe during Guy Fawkes. Dogs and cats should be kept inside to avoid any harm and distress.
