Three new liquor ban areas have been introduced in Rodney District. From 16 December liquor bans will operate at Te Arai Point Beach, Parakai and central Helensville.
This follows a Police request that the bans be introduced because of alcohol related disorder in these areas.
In Parakai and central Helensville the liquor bans will operate from 9pm to 6am, and at Te Arai Point a ban will be in effect from 6pm to 6am. The bans will operate throughout the year.
Minor changes were made to the specified areas where the liquor bans would apply in Helensville and Parakai.
Police requested the liquor bans be introduced at these times in response to alcohol related disorder.
Liquor bans are already in place in a number of areas throughout the District.
117 submissions from the public were received on the proposal to introduce the new liquor bans. Only 2 submissions opposed the introduction of liquor bans.
Four letters from the Police were received during the submission period in support of the bans operating at the times adopted by Council.
The Police will be responsible for enforcing the new liquor bans.
