The Rodney District Council has received an application for Resource Consent as listed below:
Description of Proposal
Notice of Requirement under Section 168 & 181 of the Resource Management Act 1991 to alter the designation in relation to the Hill Street intersection with State Highway 1 (SH1), Warkworth, to (in summary) undertake the following works within land subject to the existing SH1 designation and the area subject to this Notice:
- Geometric realignment of the Elizabeth Street, Hill Street and Sandspit Road intersection to form one intersection.
- Widening works associated with improving the capacity and functionality of the Hill Street intersection, creating two through lanes in each direction along SH1.
- A left turn slip into Sandspit Road (southbound), but no right turn into Hill Street from SH1.
- Two full right turn lanes into Sandspit Road (northbound) and a left turn slip into Hill Street from SH1.
- One lane out of Hill Street.
- Three lanes out of Sandspit Road (one combined right and through lane and two left turn lanes) as well as a left turn slip into Elizabeth Street.
- Two lanes out of Elizabeth Street (one full right turn and one combined right/through/left turn lane).
- A combined cycle lane and pedestrian footpath (independent of the SH1 carriageway) on the west side of SH1.
- Noise attenuation walls as recommended in the Noise Assessment.
Tree removal.
- Landscaping works as described in the Concept Mitigation Plans.
Alteration of designation to "future-proof" land that may be needed for a pedestrian bridge over SH1 (which is currently being investigated).

One signalised through lane and one signalised right lane on the northbound approach to the Matakana/Sandspit Road intersection.
- One signalised approach lane from Matakana Road north.
- A signalised through and right turn lane from Sandspit Road east.
- Pedestrian footpath on the western side of Matakana Road.
- Tree removal
- Landscaping work as described in the Concept Mitigation Plans.
- Noise attenuation walls as recommended in the Noise Assessment.
