Council officers are currently investigating the feasibility of pay and display parking in some Rodney central business districts. Experience elsewhere would suggest that this is one way of alleviating some of the parking issues in these areas. The first two CBDs we are considering are Orewa and Warkworth. No recommendations have yet been made and we are still in discussion with key stakeholder groups in each of these communities. But the officers are due to present their report to Council at its April meeting.
If Council decides to take the concept further and adopt a by-law, to at least allow for Pay and Display, we will then engage in full consultation with the public before any final decision is made.
