Pursuant to Section 22 (2) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977. The Principal Rural Fire Officer for the Rodney District Council gives notice to the public that a restricted fire season allowing fires by way of Fire Permit shall apply across the Rodney District from midday on 1 December 2009 and unless further public notice is given until 7am on 1 April 2010.
Traditional or ethnic cooking fires, gas fuelled barbecues and gas cookers are exempt from this notice.
Fires On Beaches
Fires cannot be lit on beaches at any time. This includes bonfires.

Further to this notice a Prohibited Fire Season can and may be put in place during the restricted fire season or alternatively the Restricted Fire Season can and may be extended at any time at the Principal Rural Fire Officers discretion. This will be publicly notified if the decision is made.
