Rodney District General Bylaw

The Council has been reviewing the Rodney District General Bylaw 1998. The General Bylaw now has 24 chapters dealing with a range of matters such as dog control, trade waste, stock on roads, food premises, street trading, water supply, wastewater and stormwater drainage.

In the course of the review exercise, 6 chapters have been revoked, 14 have been reviewed and retained and 10 new bylaws have been made.

On Thursday, 25 September 2008, the Council completed the review exercise. Using its powers for making bylaws under sections 145 and 146 of the Local Government Act 2002, the Council confirmed final changes to:

• Chapter 1 – Bylaw Administration;

• Chapter 8 – Public Places; and

• Chapter 19 – Waste.

It also confirmed a number of minor changes to other chapters of the General Bylaw as a result of the Chapter 1 changes.

As required by Section 157 of the Local Government Act 2002, the Council resolved to notify the making of the changes to the General Bylaw and that these changes should come into operation on Monday,13 October 2008.
