Seaweek Volunteers Wanted

The national launch of Seaweek is occuring in Rodney once again this year.

The Experiencing Marine Reserves team are looking for volunteers to help out at the launch at Goat Island on March 6th from 9am - 2pm.

The volunteers will either be in the water with small groups of snorkelers, or on the land helping to register and kit up the people attending. We don't expect any volunteer to be in the water for more than 2 sessions without a break, so feel free to come along even if you can only do say the morning (but we do need to know this in advance to get a roster worked out). You will need to be there at the beginning as the briefing will only happen once and is part of the risk management. We'll be swapping vollies between the land and sea to ensure they get rests too.

The event is being managed by the Experiencing Marine Reserves team. They have run similar events in Whangarei and use this area for their school group activities. There is no cost to participants. People will have to register first before being accepted on the activity and group sizes will be limited. A good safety plan will be in operation

This event is also the national launch of Seaweek and we hope to get media involved. There will be a breakfast to start with or a BBQ to follow for the volunteers and VIP's!
