“Selected Dog Owner” status is granted to owners whose property and dog care/control practices comply with Council’s good dog owner criteria. It applies equally to rural and urban owners, with the basic criteria being the quality of fencing, housing, feeding, exercise and control, passing a test, as well as payment of registration fees by due date.
A booklet is available which sets out the criteria for “Selected Dog Owner” status.
Qualifying owners are eligible for a registration fee discount, commencing in the following registration year.
If you feel you may qualify as a “Selected Dog Owner” you may request an application form and booklet by telephoning 09 426 5169 or 0800 426 5169, if you’re outside the Hibiscus Coast calling area, call in at one of our Service Centres, or in writing to Rodney District Council, Private Bag 500, Orewa.
If you have already qualified for the “Selected Dog Owner” status, you do not need to reapply.
Applications must be received by Friday, 1 May 2009 to allow for processing prior to the commencement of registration for the following registration year.
