M. A.D. (Make a difference) Marine Programme
This amazing opportunity has come up which students might enjoy being involved with - staying on Motutapu, plus snorkelling day at Goat Island, marine mammal watching - great for anyone keen on the marine environment with some time to spare in the holidays.
Who: For those year 9-12 students enthusiastic about our marine environment
When: From 21 -23 January 2009, 25-26 Feb, and Sea week activities
Where: Motutapu Outdoor Education Centre
Cost: $50 -100 for all three events.
(Apply to us for financial assistance if necessary as we do not want any students to miss out).
Need to be able to:
• commit to all three events
• have 2-3 students prepared to attend
• swim 50 metres confidently
Why? To increase your knowledge of our marine environment ,
and enable you to a give back session at Goat Island Feb 25 and 26
and to engage peers during Sea week.
Activities include: experience getting out on DOC Vessel “Hauturu”, kayaks, snorkelling in marine reserves in Hauraki Gulf (weather permitting), sessions with Marine animal experts, beach clean up, and restoration. The programme can take up to 30 people.
