Wellsford Wastewater Treatment Plant - Drop In Meetings

The Rodney District Council is working towards renewing the discharge consents for the existing Wellsford wastewater treatment plant.

Consents will be lodged with the Auckland Regional Council in the near future and will seek to authorise the discharge of treated effluent to a tributary of the Hoteo River and the associated discharge to air from the treatment plant.

The treatment plant, located off State Highway 1 near the Wellsford Golf Club, was established in 1972 to treat wastewater from the township and a small portion of industrial wastewater. The treatment system currently consists of an oxidation pond followed by four wetlands.  Upgrades to the plant are proposed over the coming years to improve effluent quality.

Rodney District Council is interested in the views you may have regarding the operation and proposed upgrade of the treatment plant and has scheduled two drop in meetings where representatives from the Council will be available to discuss the consent application and answer any questions.

The meetings will be held on Thursday 17 September from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturday 19 September from 2pm to 4pm, at the Wellsford Community Library.

We look forward to seeing you and discussing this project with you.
