8 June is World Ocean Day.
World Ocean Day is an opportunity every year to honor our oceans and get directly involved in protecting our future through activities that help raise consciousness of the vital natural resource.
The oceans are essential for food security and the health and survival of all life, power, and our climate and are a critical part of the biosphere.
The theme of the inaugural World Oceans Day 2009 is “Our Oceans, Our Responsibility”.
