GIS Maps
A Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computer database management system for the capture, storage, retrieval, analysis and display of geographically or spatially referenced information.
This information may include layers such as property boundaries, District Plan zones, underground utilities, contours, aerial photographs and the road network.
What GIS data layers are available?
The council holds many GIS datasets, the core datasets are as follows:
- Parcel boundaries
- Orthoimagery (rectified aerial photography) of the whole district - higher resolution for towns and major settlements.
- Utilities/Infrastructure – wastewater, stormwater and water.
- Contour and LiDAR data
