Helensville Diamond Survey Results

A survey of Helensville residents was conducted through the Rodney Times in April - May 2009. The Diamond Survey is a new approach to measuring the attractiveness of a village or town. The higher the score the more attractive the place is.

Respondents were asked to:

  • Rate Helensville on a scale of 1 to 10 on its attractiveness for Liveability, Workability, Visitability, and Investability.
  • List its strengths and weaknesses as a place


The Results

The people of Helensville responded thoughtfully to the Rodney Times Diamond Survey.  Helensville is a community that is fiercely proud of its heritage and its community.

    Some Helensville strengths:

    • Great historical background
    • The strong rural community and people
    • Wealth of creativity
    • Good clubs
    • Rural but still within an hour of Auckland CBD
    • Good community involvement

    Some Helensville weaknesses:

    • Nothing for youth to do
    • River underdeveloped
    • Transportation
    • The village main street could do with some beautification
    • Vandalism
    • Limited employment
