Orewa Diamond Survey Results

A survey of Orewa residents was conducted through the Rodney Times in April - May 2009. The Diamond Survey is a new approach to measuring the attractiveness of a village or town. The higher the score the more attractive the place is.

Respondents were asked to:

  • Rate Orewa on a scale of 1 to 10 on its attractiveness for Liveability, Workability, Visitability, and Investability.
  • List its strengths and weaknesses as a place

The Results:

Orewa residents had the most respondents to the survey. They love their town, don’t want it to become another Surfers Paradise, and reckon the central business district could do with a makeover.

Some Orewa Strengths:

  • Beautiful beach, natural environment
  • Excellent outdoor activities
  • Pleasant holiday atmosphere

Some Orewa Weaknesses:

  • Poor restaurants, night life
  • Disconnect of shopping area with the beach
  • Doesn't seem to be much for young people and families
