Resource consent information has moved!
You’ll find it on the Auckland Council website
Moving towards a single council
The councils in the Auckland region have been working cooperatively to move smoothly to the new Auckland Council.
The cooperation has helped us standardise the most popular Resource Consent online information and produce a single set of associated forms. You can use these forms now at any local government organisation in the Auckland area.
Resource consent fees in Rodney
When you lodge your application you will need to pay a deposit (non refundable) which will vary depending in the type of application.
View our fees brochure for a list of resource consent fees (PDF 242kb).
As the application progresses you will be charged for Council officers and/or consultants time, disbursements and for a hearing if this is required. When the cost exceeds the deposit paid (non refundable), you will be issued with monthly invoices to cover the costs. Prompt payment will ensure your application will continue to be processed.
If your application needs to be notified you will need to pay additional charges because of the advertising costs and extra work involved.
The Council will only release its decisions once all outstanding invoices have been paid.
Other things to know:
Specialist Advice
Sometimes the Council will seek a specialist such as a traffic engineer of landscape architect to audit your assessment for environmental effects. You will be advised of this prior to engagement.
Monitoring Fees
The deposit you pay includes two inspections to ensure the development occurs according to the consent conditions. If further follow up is required additional costs will be charged.
Fee Estimates
Costs vary significantly depending on the complexity of the application and whether it has been notified or not. Because of this we can provide estimates but not quotes for assessing a particular application. Development contributions do not form part of the cost estimate. This can be done separately.
Development Contributions
Aside from the cost of processing a resource consent, a “development contribution” will usually need to be paid for a new property (unless it has already been paid by the property developer). A development contribution is a charge which helps cover the costs of upgrading or improving infrastructure to cope with the additional demand that new properties place these things.
