The Proposed District Plan, notified in November 2000, has progressively been made operative since January 2009. The last five chapters became operative on 29 July 2011.
The only outstanding issue is an appeal to Variation 51 – Gulf Harbour which means that Special Zone 18: Gulf Harbour, remains proposed.

Copies of the District Plan
Copies of the District Plan are available for inspection at any of the former Rodney District Council offices or public libraries.
Hard copies may be purchased from the Council's service centres in Orewa or Takapuna at the following costs:
- Complete set. $500.00 (GST incl)
- Maps only (Volume 3) $150.00 (GST incl)
- Individual maps $4 per map
- Individual text pages as per A4 photocopy charges
- Updating service $150 (GST incl)
