Rodney District Council is currently developing a long term district-wide rural strategy which will develop a diverse and sustainable rural economy. The strategy will focus on:
- Protecting rural landscapes and character
- Improving rural development outcomes
- Protecting the cultural values and future benefits of undeveloped spaces
- Managing settlement edges
- Alignment with statutory requirements and Council strategic objectives
- Addressing future rural zonings across the whole Rodney district
The Rural Strategy will develop a toolkit of statutory and non-statutory instruments such as plan changes, design guides and council-led support initiatives.
