Volumetric Wastewater Charging
On 1 July, the Rodney District Council introduced volumetric charging, a new way of charging for wastewater services.
Volumetric charging is a better, fairer way of charging for our wastewater service. Instead of charging you a flat fee, regardless of how much or how little you use, where we are able we will now charge you based on your metered water consumption. But not all properties qualify. Find out who does, more about volumetric charging and your options here.
What is Volumetric Charging?
Volumetric charging estimates the volume of wastewater each household puts into the Council sewerage system. For those customers connected to a Council water system, the estimation is based on your metered input water consumption and assumes that 80% of the water you consume will go out as wastewater. What is Wastewater?
Wastewater is water that has been used for washing, flushing, or in a manufacturing process, and therefore contains waste products (sewerage).
The council ensures that all sanitary wastes generated in the district are collected and disposed of in an efficient and sustainable manner by public or private wastewater systems.
