Consultation On Kaukapakapa Structure Plan
In Planning Rodney (2008) Kaukapakapa is identified as a ‘town under pressure’.
At its meeting on 27 May 2010 the Rodney District Council adopted the draft Kaukapakapa Structure Plan for the purposes of Public Consultation. A summary of the Structure Plan is also available.
The background research has identified that the existing north and south villages reached their development capacity some years ago and that there are no opportunities for further growth within the villages under the existing rules.
The Draft Structure Plan sets out the development strategy for Kaukapakapa, and provides for an appropriate level of future growth, both in the villages and the surrounding countryside. The development strategy is influenced by key physical constraints, such as topography and hydrology as well as the aspirations of the Kaukapakapa residents to retain the village look and feel of the existing town while improving linkages and providing directions for long term potential development.
Copies of the Draft Structure Plan are available for viewing in all Council Customer Centres and libraries and in Kaukapakapa at the former petrol station.
