Creative Communities Scheme

What is the Creative Communities Scheme?

The scheme is a partnership between Creative New Zealand and local authorities to support opportunities for New Zealanders to actively participate in the arts. By administering the scheme locally, Rodney District Council can offer such opportunities to the Rodney community.

The Council is one of four councils currently involved in a pilot scheme working with revised criteria aimed at ensuring active participation in the arts.

Funding

Rodney District Council receives approximately $50,000 a year from Creative New Zealand for the Scheme. The Council administers the funds through two Community Arts Councils which assess the applications and allocate the grants. Large grants are available twice a year and small grants are available on a monthly basis.

Who can apply?

Individuals or groups seeking funding for local arts projects.

Your project must meet the Scheme’s eligibility criteria, which are based around active participation in the arts and increasing the range and diversity of arts available to the community.
