The Rodney District Council has undertaken to support the cultural well-being of Rodney's communities, by making our environments attractive and something to be proud of, and by acknowledging the economic benefits associated with the creative industries.
These benefits include enabling creative people to live and work in the District and the district to develop as a culturally rich and diverse visitor destination.
Rodney District Council believes that:
I. The arts are important to the way we see ourselves. Rodney District Council is committed to supporting creative endeavours that generate a sense of community identity throughout the District.
II. Providing opportunities for participation in and enjoyment of all arts forms is desirable for healthy communities.
III. Maori arts and culture makes a significant and unique contribution to the District.
IV. The growth of the creative sector will enhance the well-being of the District.
