If you notice a street sign needs repair, or if you would like to request a new street sign please contact us.
Temporary signs
The rules regarding temporary signs (e.g. for advertising community, cultural or sporting events) are contained within the Temporary Signs Bylaw.
If you wish to erect a sign for a community event in the council designated signage areas please download, complete and return the application form (PDF 16.9kb).
Dispensations for temporary signs
Any temporary signs not complying with any provision in the Temporary Signs Bylaw shall require a dispensation from the council before they are displayed.
If you require a dispensation for your temporary sign, please download complete and return the application for dispensation form (PDF 11.38kb). A fee may be involved fo processing a dispensation application.
Permanent signs
The rules around permanent signs (i.e. for business premises etc.) are contained within our District Plan.
Chapter 16 Proposed District Plan – General Rules
If signs breach the District Plan rules, a resource consent will need to be applied for.
Impounded signs
If your sign has been impounded by the council you may apply to claim it back. You will need to fill out a signs impoundment claim form (PDF 21kb) and pay a fee of $97.10 and return this to the council.
