Rodney District is famous for its beaches, parks and reserves
and the Assets and Facilities Team manage the maintenance of these
natural assets including mowing, weed control, erosion issues and upgrades. In 2003 the focus has been on establishing and enhancing recreational facilities for young people with skate parks and playgrounds proposed in the northern and western parts of the district. An even greater focus will be placed on communicating with the community on their values, expectations and priorities for the parks and coast. Beautification will always be on the agenda with the Orewa Beach upgrades and similar projects planned throughout the District. The Rodney District has almost 800 parks and reserves that are well used by community groups and for social functions throughout the district. For information on holding an event on a Rodney District park, reserve or beach refer to Whats On in Rodney?
Muriwai, Shakespear, Wenderholm, Mahurangi and Tawharanui are Regional Parks looked after by the Auckland Regional Council. Please contact the ARC on 0800 80 60 40 for further information regarding these parks.
Alternatively the local Visitor Information Centres can provide information including brochures and maps on the many parks, reserve and beaches in our District and the activities, walking tracks and facilities in each.
