Community Initiatives

This community visioning project was initiated by the Riverhead Residents & Ratepayers Association (RRRA) to create a shared vision for the future Riverhead that will help form the basis for the RRRA’s LTP (Long Term Plan) submission and pave the way for a revised Riverhead Structure Plan.

A workshop was held at the Riverhead Citizens Hall on Saturday 18 March 2006 and attracted around 80 participants. The community workshop format was based on a visioning process centred on four key questions:

  1. Where are we now? (Stocktaking)
  2. Where are we headed? (Scenario-Building)
  3. Where do we want to be? (Visioning)
  4. How do we get there? (Action Plan)

This document is a record of the workshop responses to these questions, and in addition builds on what was said to develop a Community Vision Statement and Action Plan for realising the Riverhead community’s shared goals and objectives for their village. An additional workshop for local teenagers was also held and the results have been incorporated into this document.
