Walking and Cycling for Sustainable Transport Strategy

The Walking and Cycling for Sustainable Transport Strategy relates to walking and cycling as alternative modes of transport aimed at:

  • reducing dependence on motor vehicles
  • improving the environment
  • improving access and mobility
  • promoting public health.

The objective is to develop and maintain safe, direct, convenient and pleasant walking and cycling networks and supporting facilities for Rodney District. The focus is to increase walking and cycling for travel between home, work and school.

The Walking and Cycling for Sustainable Transport Strategy is in two parts:

  • Part 1 – The Strategy 2005 to 2025
  • Part 2 – The Action Plan

Both parts were adopted by the Rodney District Council on 13 September 2007.

You can download these both below.
